What Type of Volunteers Are We Looking For?

Helping with FLY SoCal offers unique opportunities for both companies and individuals to make a meaningful impact while also reaping tangible benefits.

FLY SoCal is powered through passionate individuals who are committed to empowering the next generation through financial literacy and mentorship. We’re looking for dedicated Speakers and Mentors to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Southern California youth.

  • Speakers: Share your expertise in budgeting, saving, investing, and long-term financial planning. Presenting key concepts in our workshops, you’ll equip students with practical tools to build a secure financial future. Whether you’re a financial professional or someone with valuable experience in personal finance, your knowledge can inspire and educate young minds.

  • Mentors: Guide and support participants as they work toward their financial and personal goals. As a mentor, you’ll build meaningful relationships, offer personalized advice, and provide encouragement to help youth navigate their financial journeys. Your commitment to consistent and empathetic guidance will create a lasting impact.

Why Volunteer

Helping with FLY SoCal offers unique opportunities for both companies and individuals to make a meaningful impact while also reaping tangible benefits.

Enhanced Community Presence: Partnering with FLY SoCal will help your organization strengthen its ties to the community. Your involvement demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility, enhancing your reputation and visibility among local residents and businesses.

Community Impact: Demonstrate your company’s commitment to community development, supporting a program that addresses pressing social issues and fosters economic empowerment.

Brand Alignment with Positive Impact: People that align with FLY SoCal's mission can position themselves as leaders in corporate social responsibility. Your brand will be associated with empowering youth, supporting affordable housing, and promoting community development—values that resonate with today's socially-conscious consumers.

CRA Service Hours: Gain CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) service hours contributing to a program that directly benefits low to moderate income individuals.

Potential Client Engagement: Engage with a diverse audience that includes potential future clients, such as new bank account holders or homebuyers.

Long-Term Impact: Investing in FLY SoCal allows you to invest in the long-term success and well-being of Southern California. The positive outcomes of your partnership—whether in education, housing, or community support—will have lasting effects on the region's future.

General Expectations for All Volunteer Speakers

  • Engagement: Interactive sessions are key. Ask questions or include activities. Youth are more likely to engage when they feel acknowledged, involved and valued.

  • Relevance: Presentations should be tailored to the age group and focus on practical, actionable advice that young people can apply to their lives now or in the near future.

  • Diversity: Diverse representation (in terms of gender, race, and socioeconomic background) among speakers can ensure all attendees feel represented and understood.

The goal is to create a well-rounded program that offers both inspiration and actionable steps to improve financial literacy and career planning among the youth.
